'Tis the Season!

I have been working on a really fun holiday project thanks to Willa at the Old Cupboard Door. I made these SUPER cute snowmen using one of her pattern designs aren't they adorable???? I made some white and some a antique color in the face. These were so much fun to make!!! I decided not to make them into pokes because they were a little too heavy so I made them into bowl fillers/ornies. I am thinking about making these and giving them away for Christmas as ornaments!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I know I did! I did a lot of decorating at home and I need to put out my Dickens Village and I am all done! I want Wilbur to put lights up on the top part of the house be he is scared of our roof! Hopefully this weekend his friend can help him out! I just love my LED lights!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! Tonight I am going over my Mom and Dad's to prepare the turkey to be brined overnight. Then Thursday morning my mom will put it in the oven and make the rest of the food. After eating lots of Turkey and stuffing (my fave) I will put up some Christmas decorations and go shopping on Black Friday at Lowes as I am in need of some storage containers for my decorations they are 2 for 5.98 and going to Wal-Mart to pick up a digital camera.

-Brine Recipe-
Ingredients
1 gallon vegetable broth
1 cup sea salt
1 tablespoon crushed dried rosemary
1 tablespoon dried sage
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried savory
1 gallon ice water
Directions
In a large stock pot, combine the vegetable broth, sea salt, rosemary, sage, thyme, and savory. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently to be sure salt is dissolved. Remove from heat, and let cool to room temperature.
When the broth mixture is cool, pour it into a clean 5 gallon bucket. Stir in the ice water.
Wash and dry your turkey. Make sure you have removed the innards. Place the turkey, breast down, into the brine. Make sure that the cavity gets filled. Place the bucket in the refrigerator overnight.
Remove the turkey carefully draining off the excess brine and pat dry. Discard excess brine.
Cook the turkey as desired reserving the drippings for gravy. Keep in mind that brined turkeys cook 20 to 30 minutes faster so watch the temperature gauge.

^Summit Inn

Lakeview Reception Room

Lakeview Fireplace Room

Well Wilbur and I aren't officially engaged yet but we have been dating for 6 years and my ring is on order so we are planning on having a wedding next October. We have been visiting many reception venues around our area to see what fits in our price range and also the atmosphere. It is such a hard decision!!! Here are a few places that we have visited--

The Lakeview Resort located in Morgantown,WV it comes with both rooms the fireplace room would be were you serve hors d'oeuvres and the other room is were you have the reception. It has a beautiful view of Cheat Lake and the Mountains.

The Summit Inn is a mountaintop landmark located in Farmington,PA--a grand porch hotel renowned for its panoramic five-county views and its nostalgic fireplace atmosphere. It is on the historic registry and is beautiful. We are going here today to look at the place my Prom was held here 6 years ago.

The Willow Room is located in Belle Vernon, PA it is an exquisite location with crystal chandeliers.

It is such a hard decision!!!!

Good Morning!

Last night we celebrated Thanksgiving with Wilbur's family since they have to work on Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful time! We had stuffing, turkey, yams, mashed potatoes, crescent rolls, and noodles. Everything was just delicious!!

This weekend Wilbur and I are going to measure the house so we can purchase some LED's for our home and outline the front with them and put some on our bushes. Last year I got on the LED kick because Wilbur said we can't get regular lights because they use to much electricity so I got some LED's and our electric bill didn't go up at all and they were the same price as incandescent lights! I know they aren't very prim but I do really like them and I like a lot of Christmas lights!! :) I decided to go with the colored ones since our house is white and the white LED's against a white house would be blinding! I told Wilbur I want people to see our house from space! LOL Here is a picture of our tree from last year. It is decorated with Disney ornaments that I have collected throughout the years.

I hope all of you have a splendid day!

The time sure does fly...

11-21-09 will mark one year of moving into our beautiful home!

I can't believe how fast time flew by. We accomplished many things in our home and continue to make more and more improvements. It took a lot to get to were we are today! I am very thankful to have so much at a young age.

HELLO EVERYONE!

Hello I just wanted to introduce myself... I'm Natalie and i'm 24. I love everything prim, antique, and old fashioned. I would love to live in the olden days but with all of the technology :)

I am addicted to etsy and antiquing and I love to decorate my home in prim americana style.

Here are some of my recent finds :)

I got the beautiful santa make do from a craft show and the little mouser from a craft store in my area!

Enjoy!
